These Stocks Could Squeeze This Week (Mar 22): A Short Squeeze Watchlist
The stock market today can feel like it’s all macro — the S&P 500, the VIX, Treasury yields, even Bitcoin — but some of the biggest moves still come from micro structure: crowded shorts + thin floats + a little upside pressure.
So here’s a simple weekly routine: don’t predict squeezes — just keep a watchlist of names where the math makes shorts uncomfortable.
Below is this week’s VisionBoard Short Squeeze Candidates snapshot (prices/returns as of the Mar 20 close).
This week’s short squeeze candidates (ranked)
Top names by Squeeze Score (0–100):
- GRPN (Groupon) — 80 | SI 46.3% | DTC 8.5 | Float 24.0M | 1W +18.6% | CTB 0.8%
- HTZ (Hertz) — 72 | SI 48.4% | DTC 10.1 | Float 129.8M | 1W +1.5% | CTB 3.9%

The “already moving” subset (momentum helps)
If you only want squeeze setups that already have a tailwind, these were green on the week:
- GRPN, HTZ, SPHR
- Plus: STIM, LCID, PCT also screened with positive 1W momentum (lower scores, but worth keeping on the radar).
How VisionBoard’s Squeeze Score works (plain English)
We rank candidates with a 0–100 score using five inputs, then a borrow-cost adjustment:
- Short interest % (38%) — more shorts = more fuel
- Days to cover (30%) — harder to exit when volume is thin
- Float size (14%) — smaller float moves faster
- 1-week momentum (8%) — only counts when it’s positive
- Attention spike (10%) — if it’s missing, we treat it as neutral
- Cost-to-borrow adjustment (± ~12 pts) — expensive borrow increases pressure
This isn’t a prediction engine. It’s a way to systematically find crowded trades before you waste time doom-scrolling.
